JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Policy Advocate

The California Reinvestment Coalition (CRC) is a statewide coalition of 250 nonprofit organizations whose goal is to end predatory lending, advocate for community needs and expand access to fair finance.  CRC is a small, dynamic organization that advocates increased access to banking for affordable housing and community economic development, and financial services for low-income communities and communities of color. CRC also assists local community groups with community advocacy strategies.

Responsibilities:                                                                                            

  • Conduct campaigns on predatory financial issues
  • Advocate for increased community resources with major financial institutions;
  • Research and develop reports on consumer banking issues
  • Facilitate meetings and negotiate with bank representatives for appropriate financial services and products
  • Organize CRC member organizations to challenge bank mergers and support policy initiatives
  • Conduct popular education workshops and make conference presentations
  • Provide technical assistance to community-based initiatives; and
  • Staff CRC member working groups and committees.

Qualifications:

  • Two years experience in advocacy or community organizing;
  • Knowledge of affordable housing, economic development, or low-income consumer issues;
  • Demonstrated capacity to staff multiple projects;
  • Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills.

Salary: Depending on experience.
