Basics of Indian Homeownership Programs: On and Off Reservation Strategies
The California Coalition for Rural Housing Tribal Housing Capacity Development Project convened a one day workshop on basics of Indian Homeownership Programs. The workshop provided an introduction and overview for Native American tribal staff, council members and officials on program and strategies to help tribal members build financial assets and prepare for and achieve homeownership either on or off the reservation. Topics included:
- Off reservation opportunities to purchase affordable homes
- Outreach & marketing methods
- How to determine if a tribal member is financially ready for homeownership
- How to prepare tribal members for homeownership
- Financial asset building strategies and programs
Expert panelists will include representatives from:
- California Coalition for Rural Housing
- California Human Development Corporation
- Northern Circle Indian Housing Authority
- Rural Communities Housing Development Corporation
