Sandy Sanchez
Housing Authority of the County of Buenaventura
Sandy Sanchez began her journey in rural affordable housing with her participation in the CCRH Internship Program from 2013 to 2014, which ignited her leadership potential. The program’s “boot camp” at UC Davis transformed her from a shy and reserved individual into someone who had the confidence to bond with her cohort and actively engage in the program and training. This experience helped her envision herself as a Project Manager—an aspiration that had once felt completely out of reach.
She is most excited to be part of the Rural Housing Visionary Organizational Leadership Program and to learn from like-minded peers and current industry leaders. Sandy firmly believes that camaraderie and mentorship are essential for one’s development. This industry is challenging, and she has no doubt that the expertise of the cohort and the industry experts involved in the program will help her in her current and future roles.
Sandy is willing to learn from others while sharing her own experiences. She values learning from those who have navigated similar paths. With ten years of experience in the industry, she feels confident in her knowledge but remains humble enough to recognize that there is still much to learn. She wants to share the lessons she has gained that may assist others, but most importantly, she is excited to acquire new skills and insights from her colleagues.
